FAQs

  • Check out our classes page to find out more about the different classes we offer at Mahana Yoga Loft.

  • Yoga and Pilates are different styles of exercise but they do complement each other exceptionally well. Yoga focuses on flexibility, broad muscle groups, breathing, strength and a dash of spirituality. While Pilates will also work on your flexibility, it’s main emphasis is on core strength.

  • Yes! In fact, one of the greatest benefits of starting a yoga or Pilates practice is an increase in flexibility. Please do not feel embarrassed, discouraged or put off by your perceived ‘lack’ of flexibility. All of our teachers will be able to show you variations of poses/movements to best work on increasing your flexibility.

  • Check out our classes page to find out more about the different class styles we offer at Mahana Yoga Loft and what class best interests you. For a yoga beginner, we advise our slow flow yoga or yin classes when first started out.

  • Online bookings are required. To book your class, head to our timetable page and select the class you wish to attend then proceed through the registration process, this should only take a few minutes. Payment for the class can then be made online. If this is your first class with us, please get to the studio about 5-10 minutes before the beginning of your chosen class to allow time to get settled and for your teacher to get to know you a little.

  • The studio opens 15 minutes before the beginning of class. Check the timetable for class times.

  • Probably! As long as your doctor has given you the okay to do so, yoga and pilates can be of great benefit pre and postnatal. However, we encourage you to take full responsibility for your practice, to listen to your body and to do what is right for you. We ask that you please inform your teacher before class so they are aware of your pregnancy and at what stage you’re in. It is at your teacher’s discretion whether you are admitted to practice.

If you are not a regular practitioner already and want to begin a yoga or pilates practice for the first time, it might be more beneficial for you to take part in a Slow Flow or yin yoga class. Our Mat Pilates classes are not recommended during pregnancy as there is a very strong focus on core strength.

  • Mats are provided, however feel free to bring your own. Wear comfortable clothing you can move in and bring a water bottle.

  • People of all ages can practice yoga and pilates – however our regular classes are aimed at adults and older teens. Our studio has a minimum age policy of 16 years old.

  • Check out the pricing page for all our different options.

  • There is plenty of parking across the road. Please do not park in front of the shops while attending class to ensure we keep parking spaces available for other businesses.
